Technical Debt
Accumulated shortcuts in code, architecture, or process that compound cost and slow change.
Quantifiable technical debt shows up as elevated incident rates, growing lead-time-to-change, dependency lock-in, and stagnant test coverage. In diligence the question is not 'is there debt?' (always yes) but 'is it material to the value-creation plan, and what does retirement cost in engineering quarters?'
